Roast Dinners
I enjoy a good roast dinner and I recently went out for Sunday Lunch with a large group of friends. Its was a lovely resturant and pub on the waterfront in Bristol. The weather was gorgeous and we were all able to sit outside overlooking the water. It was a nice meal but it was ruined at the end when we came to pay for it and there was a discretionary 15 percent tip added to the bill ( plus they overcharged us by £35 )
The tip was almost £40 I mean come on who leaves a tip of £40 Maybe millionaire or really stupid person, but im neither so i asked for the Discretionary tip to be taken off the bill as we did not want to pay that amount as a tip
"So you dont want to leave a tip then" the waitress asked quite sharpish. "No i dont" i replied and certainly not a tip of £40 thats the cost of another two dinners We had to speak to 4 different people to get the correct amount on our bill and the tip taken off . £40 tip, they are having a serious laugh
And it was those poncy bloody Sunday dinners where you get 1.5 roast potatoes and 1 slice of beef and a few vegetables artfully arrange to make the plate look full but you cant fool me so im not paying for 2 more dinners)
I stood my ground and got the rip off tip taken off. I would not mind paying a good tip but i hate being ripped off and the tip dose not go to the waitress anyway, so why should i give the resturant more money for doing SFA why dont they just charge more for the food and be done with it
Despite that it was a nice meal and a gorgeous day but i wont go back there again maybe for drinks but not for food. But next time I want a roast dinner im going to Nobby’s Carvery in Bristol where you can get the best roast dinners in Bristol and dont have to leave a tip.
